Connect your Android device to eduroam
Many research and educational institutions are part of the eduroam network that allows them to connect to the internet with Wi-Fi when visiting other institutions using their home credentials.
Connecting your device does sometimes require particular configurations to work rather than just providing your institutional email and password.
While these instructions are Android specific, there may be sufficient information provided for Apple devices as well.
How to connect to eduroam
- Go to your Settings.
- Open your Wi-Fi settings.
- You should see a list of Wi-Fi networks that you can select.
- Select or click on the one labelled 'eduroam'.
- In the configuration menu provide the following:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase-2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA certificate: Use system certificates
- Domain: (the portion after the @ symbol of your email address)
- Identity: (your institutional email)
- Anonymous identity: (leave blank)
- Password: (your institutional password)
- Save or submit the form.
- You should now be connected to eduroam.
Example
At the University of Luxembourg you would do as above but provide the following Domain and Identity.
- Domain: uni.lu
- Identity: jane.doe@uni.lu
