Assessments are important for improving teaching and learning course design. Using a reflection assignment as an assessment to obtain student feedback is useful, such as managing individual or group projects, fieldwork or teaching new material that may be challenging for students. The reflection template guide provided is used as an assignment to cultivate student's personal insights from fieldwork (e.g. observations, interviews and data samples). However, this may be adapted to other tasks (e.g. group projects or learning modules). These reflections also serve as an entry point to help student's further develop their methodological analysis and work needed to complete their fieldwork.
The following documents are provided to help design a reflection assignment:
- Reflection Journal template for fieldwork
- Literature on how to use reflection in teaching and learning
